Maximize your budget
Lucky Orange plans start at $39 a month and include unlimited surveys and responses. Hotjar's unlimited survey plans start at $59 plus additional cost for survey responses.
All-in-one packages
Like peanut butter and jelly, surveys are a great complement to heatmaps and session recordings. If you plan on using surveys to dig deeper into visitor behavior, Hotjar charges for those separately based on the number of surveys you launch and how many responses you want to collect. Lucky Orange includes unlimited surveys and responses at no extra cost with all of its plans.
Share across sites
Lucky Orange lets you share your monthly sessions allocation across multiple sites. You can add additional sites to your Lucky Orange account for just $5/month per site. This is great if you have one site that isn't generating as much traffic (yet) or if you want to manage all of your agency's sites from the same plan. With Hotjar, you'll have to set up and pay for separate plans for every website you add.
Try it all for free
Every Lucky Orange feature is available on its free plan. Whether it's advanced filtering, saved segments, surveys or using integrations, you can try it all on Lucky Orange's free plan. Hotjar limits the features available on it's free and entry-level paid plans. Features like filtering, customizing button colors or integrating Hotjar with platforms like Google Analytics, HubSpot or Zapier are only for its more expensive plans.

Website heatmaps
Lucky Orange and Hotjar both offer website heatmaps, but there are major differences between their products.
Dynamic vs. static
The biggest difference between Lucky Orange and Hotjar heatmaps is the ability to capture dynamic elements, like hamburger menus or drop downs. Lucky Orange offers dynamic heatmaps that track these elements, but Hotjar only offers static heatmaps.
Segmentation
Visitors from different traffic sources interact with different elements on your website. Lucky Orange allows you to segment heatmaps based on traffic source or even UTM parameters associated with your marketing campaigns.
Limited features on some plans
Every Lucky Orange heatmaps feature is available to users on any plan — even the Lucky Orange free plan. Hotjar restricts heatmap features like filtering data to its paid plans and further limits features like filtering by certain events to its more expensive plans.
Get every feature on every plan - even on our free plan. With Lucky Orange, you won't pay for more sessions than you need to unlock powerful features.
Visitor surveys
Surveys can be a great way to get instant user experience feedback. Both Lucky Orange and Hotjar offer them, but there are some key differences.
Included vs. add on
Lucky Orange includes unlimited surveys and unlimited responses with all of its plans at no extra cost. Hotjar's surveys are an add-on feature and you'll pay more based on the number of responses you want to gather.
Survey limits
If you're running a survey on Hotjar and you hit your monthly response limit, you'll stop receiving responses. With Lucky Orange, you can receive an unlimited number of survey responses, so you'll never miss valuable feedback.
Event-based triggers
Lucky Orange allows you to trigger surveys based off events on all of its plans, including its free plan. Hotjar only provides survey triggering based on user attributes on its more expensive Business and Scale plans.
Session recordings
Seeing a playback of exactly what people did while they were on your website can help you spot opportunities to boost your conversion rates.
Live view
This is a feature Lucky Orange offers but Hotjar doesn't. If you don't want to wait for a visitor session to end to see a recording, you can use the Lucky Orange Live View feature to see sessions from people who are live on your site right now.
Visitor sampling
Lucky Orange doesn't sample traffic, so you'll see a recording for every visitor that could be tracked as long as you're within your plan's session allocation. Hotjar will revert to sampling visitor traffic if your potential plan traffic exceeds your plan limits.
Feature restrictions
Some of Hotjar's session recording features, like filtering by landing page, event, device type or Google Optimize experiment ID and saving segments are only available on paid plans. Lucky Orange provides these features on all plans, including its free plan.
