Introducing Discovery Visualize: Tell the story behind your website analytics
What is Discovery Visualize?
Discovery Visualize is the newest Lucky Orange feature that creates a narrative about your website analytics and visitor behavior data and generates accompanying visualizations in the form of charts, graphs and lists.
Visualize is split into two areas that work together:
Discovery chat. This is where you ask questions, read Discovery's written findings and keep the conversation going with follow-ups.
The Visualize workspace. This is a canvas where charts, trends, breakdowns and other visual results appear as Discovery creates them.
It's built for spotting trends, comparing visitor groups and deciding what to investigate next.
What can you do with Discovery Visualize?
You have a website performance meeting in five minutes and you need a visual that shows how your conversions are trending week over week.
Discovery can provide the narrative about your site performance, but up until now, you’ve had to create your own charts and graphs using that data.
Now, with the launch of Discovery Visualize, Lucky Orange can create those charts and graphs for you with the click of a button.
You can ask Discovery questions about your website performance, visitor behavior patterns and more. Here are a few ideas to get started:
"Which traffic sources are bringing in visitors who actually convert?"
"How does mobile engagement compare to desktop?"
"Where are visitors getting frustrated on my site?"
"Is there anything blocking conversions on my checkout pages?"
How does Discovery Visualize work?
Ask Discovery a question in plain language, the same way you'd ask a teammate. Include a time period when it matters.
For example:
"Can you give me a quick summary of how my site performed this week compared to last week?"
Discovery gets to work and returns a written analysis alongside a set of visuals on the workspace. For that question, you might see a line graph for session trend over time, lists that breakdown device types and traffic sources, or a bar chart of your conversion rate volume over the last seven days.

Every question is different, so every answer is too. Depending on what you ask and the data available for your site, Discovery may return a mix of written insights, charts and links to dig into further.
💡Quick tip: If you’re not sure what to ask Discovery, use one of the Quick Actions to get started.
What are some use cases for Discovery Visualize?
Use Case #1: Track conversion trends over time
It can be helpful to see your website conversions in a trend line over time, not just in a raw count of conversions.
Ask Discovery to analyze your conversions over the last 60 days and it will analyze conversions for the data available on your plan (standard plans come with 60 days data retention, but you can upgrade to up to 365 days).
Looking at a trend line of your conversions can help you quickly see times where your site converted better, perhaps due to the launch of a new paid campaign, a mention from an influencer, or coverage in the media.

Use Case #2: Compare mobile and desktop engagement
An important aspect of website optimization is narrowing down your list of experiments to the ones that will have the biggest impact.
Asking Discovery to compare the differences in engagement for mobile vs. desktop users can help you prioritize device-specific user journeys.
If you ask Discovery how mobile engagement compares to desktop, it will analyze sessions from both device types and break down engagement by factors like traffic volume and page depth, bounce rate, session duration, frustration points and conversion efficiency.
Discovery Visualize will complement the narrative with lists and charts that help you see the differences in engagement patterns.

Use Case #3: Find content visitors aren’t reaching
People consume content differently on mobile devices than they do on desktop.
You can ask Discovery to analyze a heatmap of a specific page of your site and provide visuals that show the differences in scroll depth between device types.
Understanding the differences in behavior can help you narrow in on content optimization opportunities to ensure users are reaching important CTAs, product details or other benefit content regardless of the device they’re using.

Use case #4: Prepare a client performance review
Agency professionals need to help clients understand what their website analytics mean and where they should focus next.
Before you start compiling your next monthly review, ask Discovery:
“Compare last month’s performance with the previous month. Show conversion rates by traffic source, device type and landing page, along with session and conversion counts. Highlight changes worth investigating.”
Discovery provides a written analysis with supporting charts and breakdowns in the Visualize workspace. These help you explain:
Which sources brought visitors who converted
How mobile performance compared with desktop
Which landing pages deserve a closer look

Once you’ve reviewed the findings, arrange the relevant cards in the workspace and download or take screenshots to include in your client presentation. You’ll have visuals as well as the explanation highlighting what changed, what it could mean and next steps for further investigation.
How can I customize the charts and graphs on the Discovery Visualize workspace?
The Discovery Visualize workspace was built with customization in mind. You can use the workspace tools to drag and drop cards in whatever order you’d like.
This comes in handy when you want to take a screenshot of specific cards to include in a report. You can also archive cards you don’t want in your view and download the full workspace.
Discovery Visualize also has a focus mode that allows you to drill deeper on a specific card on the workspace.
When you’ve focused on a specific card, you can ask Discovery to explain what the card means or modify it. You can ask Discovery to change the date range being analyzed on the card or ask it to perform another analysis, such as bounce rate for top converting sources.
Discovery will provide a new narrative analysis in the Discovery Chat and supporting charts, graphs or lists on the Discovery Visualize workspace.
