The Built for Shopify badge is Shopify's highest quality designation for apps in its ecosystem. It isn't handed out for signing up or paying a fee. Shopify evaluates apps against a strict set of standards covering security, admin performance, ease of use, and demonstrated merchant results, and only apps that meet every one of those standards earn the badge.

What Shopify Looks For
Built for Shopify status is built on a few core requirements:
Security and reliability. Apps have to handle store data responsibly, install and uninstall cleanly, and comply with Shopify's API terms and Partner Program agreement.
Performance. Shopify measures how much an app slows down the admin, and for apps like ours that touch the storefront, how much it affects page and checkout speed.

Heatmaps, session recordings, and live chat continue to run the way they always have. What's different is that Shopify has now formally verified the quality bar we've been holding ourselves to.
