See the Behavior Behind Your Optimizely A/B Tests
Analytics
Optimizely tells you which variant won. Lucky Orange shows you why.
When you connect Lucky Orange to Optimizely, your A/B test data becomes a behavioral research tool. Filter session recordings by experiment and variation. See heatmaps segmented by which variant a visitor saw. Build conversion funnels by test group. Every result in Optimizely gets a behavioral explanation in Lucky Orange.
What the Integration Does
A/B testing answers the question "which version performs better?" Behavioral analytics answers the question "what did visitors actually do differently in each version?"
The Lucky Orange + Optimizely integration connects those two questions. Once linked, Lucky Orange automatically detects Optimizely experiments running on your site and tags every visitor session with the experiment ID and variation ID they were exposed to. That tag becomes a filter you can apply across every Lucky Orange feature — recordings, heatmaps, funnels, and segments.
What You Can Do
Session recordings by variant
Filter your session recordings to show only visitors who saw a specific Optimizely experiment or variation. Watch how visitors in the control group navigated your page compared to visitors who saw the test variant. See exactly what they clicked, where they hesitated, and what led them to convert — or not.
This is where the integration earns its value. Statistical significance tells you that Variant B outperformed Variant A by 14%. Session recordings show you the moment a visitor in Variant B noticed the new CTA placement and clicked it without hesitation, while a visitor in Variant A scrolled past it entirely.
Heatmaps by experiment and variation
Open any heatmap in Lucky Orange and use the A/B Tests filter in the top navigation to select a specific experiment and variation. The heatmap updates to show click and scroll patterns only for visitors who saw that variant.
Compare the heatmap for your control against the heatmap for your winning variant side by side and the behavioral difference usually becomes immediately obvious — attention shifted, clicks concentrated differently, scroll depth changed. These are the insights that make your next test hypothesis stronger.
Visitor table and key events
Once the integration is connected, Lucky Orange automatically creates an "A/B Testing Experiment Detected" event. Mark it as a Key Event in Lucky Orange and it becomes visible in the Visitors table — so you can see at a glance which visitors were exposed to an active experiment. You can also use this event to trigger surveys, announcements, and chat invites to visitors in specific test groups.
